Mental Wellness Is A Human Right

Mental wellness is not merely a life without stress or without psychiatric difficulties. Rather, it is a state of the presence of meaning, joy, equanimity, purpose, happiness, enthusiasm, resilience and optimism - all in great abundance. Mental wellness is a fundamental human right. Let us all accept this basic fact of human existence.

We do our best to walk the walk of wellness in hopes of achieving a life that lives up to the ideal of wellness. We succeed sometimes and we fail sometimes. But we always keep trying. And we benefit hugely from our efforts. In our clinical practice, we also incorporate wellness interventions into every single encounter we have with our patients. Additionally, we have researched extensively on the topic of wellness, published a book on this topic, written a wellness workbook, and we have done our best to partner with individuals and organizations with a shared interest in promoting mental wellness.

We are just beginning this journey with hundreds upon thousands of other citizens of the world! Through the Uplift website we plan to stay in touch with you, inform you, inspire you, and offer you tools and resources to enhance your own wellness, and we hope you'll share this information and resources with those in your personal and professional life.

The Neurobiology of Wellness

Wellness as a concept is immediately attractive to nearly all of us - but is it 'for real'? We set out to explore the neurobiology, definitions, and interventions in wellness, and here you will find a compilation of all of our findings. This was a labor of love and took months to collect, analyze and then put into slides. But the effort was well worth it and we are very glad the results prove that wellness as a concept is deserving of a full embrace by all of us.
