Skills Summit:

This activity is designed to help improve the skills of all associates. If you or someone else could benefit from understanding Effective Communication Skills, 5P, Quality Tools, Generations & Team Conflict, Leadership Skills, or improve their work skills in general, be sure to register! This is a two-day activity. You will have the option to pick two different classes to improve your skill level.

Class Description

5P: Much of what people do is solve problems and make decisions that are often "under the gun". People are stressed, and short for time. Consequently, when faced with a new problem, they react with a decision that seemed to work before. This can cause a lack of true problem identification. This workshop will teach a structured approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Effective Communication: One of the primary benefits of effective communication skills is that you'll be able to better understand your team and its needs. If your employees know that you listen to them and take care of them, they will perform better and feel more motivated to help. Take the time to listen to your team and find out what it needs to function at its peak. Provide feedback regularly and get involved in every project. Show your employees that you care about their opinions and encourage them to brainstorm ideas.

Quality Tools & Techniques for Circles: This session will focus on some of the components of the Basic Quality Tools, proper labeling of charts, tools for the appraisal, data collection and tools for data analysis. Learn how to interpret the data your circle team collects. Learn how to incorporate basic quality tools into the circle process.

Circle Facilitator Workshop: Learn how Honda defines team-based problem-solving. Items to review: -Why we do it and our Philosophy - Circle Facilitator (Beliefs, Characteristics, Role & Skills) - Training Recommendations & Other Tools/Resources - Understanding the Circle Process - Review Supplier Circle Criteria - Tips & More

Generations & Team Conflict:

Generations: Research clearly demonstrates that age diversity can improve organizational performance, and HR practices that improve the age diversity climate within an organization have the potential to further improve performance and lower employee turnover. Studies also find that the productivity of both older and younger workers is higher in companies with mixed-age work teams. And age diversity within teams is positively related to performance when groups are involved in complex decision-making tasks

Team Conflict: Conflict resolution allows for constructive change to occur. If problems and disagreements are ignored rather than being handled constructively, things can only go one of two ways; either things stay the same, or they get worse. But, when people discuss their differences and work through them together, the stage is set for positive change to occur.

Leadership Training:

Adapt your Leadership Style: Strong leadership is the critical foundation for an organization. It ensures goals are achieved on time, empowers individual employees, motivates teams to work in solidarity, and generates visions for future growth. This course will enable you to adopt the qualities of an effective leader and communicate more constructively with your team by adjusting your behavioral style to meet the needs of employees. As a result, you’ll be better able to facilitate meetings smoothly, engage in constructive one-on-one conversations and ultimately, build rapport among colleagues.

Effective Meetings: Poorly run meetings take too long, involve too many people, and never seem to result in any concrete action. Despite this, meetings are necessary and can be extremely effective. Meetings that are planned and facilitated well give participants a sense of accomplishment and a sense that their time was well spent. This program will show you how to make every meeting efficient and effective.
